The US radio station that hosted the recent 'Hold your wee for a Wii' competition has sacked 10 of its employees, including the program director, promotions director and three morning DJs, after the contest resulted in the death of a mother of three children.

KDND 107.9 apparently received reports from listeners who were furious after hearing staff making jokes during the competition.

The Sacramento Bee are reporting that one listener phoned the show to make management aware that their staff were making jokes, but was told that they 'aware of it'.

"We got a guy who's just about to die," a reporter with the contestants said. "Make sure he signs the release," the radio host replied.

The local sheriff has said there will be no criminal investigation. "It's not as if she was somehow in their custody and they had a role to care for her. Rather, it was an invitation to a contest that was clearly ill- advised. She was exercising her free will," said Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness . "If there's anything to suggest a criminal act by anyone involved in this, we'd pick it up and run with it."

"Effective immediately the "The Morning Rave" program is cancelled and 10 employees are no longer with the station," read a statement issued by manager, John Geary.
