In a bizarre competition run by Sacremento radio station KDND 107.9, listeners were invited to take part in a competition to win a Wii. Contestants were given 225 millilitre bottles to drink every 15 minutes and were told that the one who drank the most would walk away with the Nintendo console.

According to another contestant, participants were told not to put their health at risk if they felt uncomfortable taking part, but Jennifer Strange from California was desperate to win a Wii for her three kids and threw herself into the competition. Ms Strange informed one her work colleagues that she was feeling ill on the way home and on Friday she was found dead in her home.

A local coroner has confirmed that the death was "consistent with water intoxication".

What a totally stupid competition. Where was the risk assessment on that? :p
Comedy Gold
Probably not *comedy* seeing as someone actually died from it - but it wasnt the best way to go. I guess that most people know you can die from lack of water, but not too many know the opposite is true too.

Its rather a sad story, really.
Sad.

(and stupid that someone would drink water like that)

They should have made the contestants drink saline solution
So did she win?
