HEXUS and ATI present: Assembly 05 – Pics and video

Of course, you’ve now read all about Assembly and what it’s all about in this article, but we thought you’d probably want to see some pictures to prove what we’re saying… after all, I could tell you it’s held in a giant inflatable elephant where anyone playing TFC is forced to use helium before going on comms…

So here’s some pics of the event, just to give you and idea of just how much was going on and the facilities provided and, as a special treat, we have video footage of a walk from one end of the arena to the other. It’s well worth pointing out that the unique camera skills you’ll see here are thanks to our friends at ATI who have kindly taken this footage on our behalf…

The entrance to the games fest, with associated security

This is what you see once you get inside… loads and loads and loads of gamers… I mean, LOADS of gamers…

More kit than Comet… 5.1 speakers, an amp and a fridge??? Hardcore LANners, obviously…

Check out all those screens… everyone a gamer have the LAN of his life!

And if the hockey rink isn’t big enough, stick gamers in the stands too!

And then stick more of them in the stands… 3,000 is a lot of people, eh?

Had enough digital fun for a while? Table hockey to stop mouse hand RSI!

The ATI stand. (Note the shiny floor from gamers dribbling over Crossfire)

Coffee… THE essential substance for four days of gaming, and a chance to talk to others about pwning some n00b…

The token female meets the token Linux users…(Apologies to DirectHex) In fact, those bunk beds in the backgorund were donated by Microsoft for gamer's to get a decent kip.

Ahh, the gamer’s primary food group is readily to hand within the arena

The Helsinki University were there, recruiting for next year's Computer Science applicants, whilst sitting on genetically modified blueberries…

And I know I’ve already mentioned it, but you really must check out this video footage of a walk across the arena floor…it’s only 3.78Mb and its quite amazing just how big the event is. And make sure you also check out our Video Interview with Jussi Laakkonen, Assembly's Event Director and Business Development Director of Bugbear Entertainment. Credit, once again, to ATI for shooting the footage for us… I bet Steven Spielberg is quaking in his boots…
