CGEUK throw down the gauntlet to the French!

CGEUK throw down the gauntlet to the French!

If you head down to Croydon this August, you’ll be able to take part in gaming history as CGEUK, the Classic Gaming Expo, is organizing a petition to challenge France in a gaming session to finally decide who’s the best.

The petition, described as ‘settling a 650 year old rivalry’, is 8 feet tall and anyone attending the CGEUK event on Saturday 13th August will be invited to sign it. According to Chris and Christine Millard, co-founders of CGEUK, the petition will be handed over in the spirit of “fun and friendship, the difficult years of past Anglo-Franco conflicts, are now long behind us and we can now use the fun and entertaining medium of the video game as a way to create positive cultural ties between our two nations.”

The petition will be delivered to France on Monday 15th August by a select band of representatives under a flag of truce, inviting members of the French videogame industry to sort themselves out with a team to take us on at the next CGEUK in 2006. So expect lots of shrugging and Gitanes smoking as the French haul themselves out of their apathy and perhaps do something about it.
