The Tokyo Game Show, which begins tomorrow, is tipped to be bigger this year than the Games Convention in Leipzig recently, with approximately 1,550 booths showing the hottest games in Japan and number of brand new titles. It's widely believed that Sony may use the event to release news that a PS3 rumble controller, Dual Shock 3, will be available to buy before the Christmas period.

Remember the lawsuit that was filed by Immersion Technology when they attempted to sue Sony for for patent infringement for the use of vibration functions in their controller? Well, that's been settled out of court, Immersion and Sony are now friends and the company announced sometime back that they would now '"explore the inclusion of Immersion technology in PlayStation format products."

Rumour has it that Immersion and Sony have been working hard together to ensure that the new controller will be ready to hit stores before the Christmas period

The controller is called Dual Shock because the controller has two vibration motors: a weak buzzing motor, and a strong rumble motor, similar to that of the Nintendo 64's Rumble Pak. Unlike the Rumble Pak, however, the DualShock uses the PlayStation to power the vibration function, whereas the Rumble Pak uses batteries. The DualShock controller was given an Emmy Award for "Peripheral Development and Technological Impact of Video Game Controllers" by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on January 8, 2007.
