HDMI Xbox 360 Premiums – it’s official

Hi-def port not just for Elites

Microsoft have confirmed that they’re going to be shipping Xbox 360 Premiums with HDMI built in.

Once the fabled reserve (albeit briefly) of Xbox 360 Elites and one of the PS3’s selling points, Microsoft have gone ahead and slapped HDMI into their mid-range unit.

Telling HDMI apart from old versions is easy, according to Microsoft, as they’ll have a big sticker on them saying it’s got HDMI...

No word as to whether these newer units will have the cooler and therefore apparently more reliable 65nm CPUs or the less noisy DVD drives or even if, now they’ve got HDMI on board, whether we’ll start to see built in HD-DVD drives.

Microsoft aren’t saying but I’d bet an intimate body part we see them before Summer 08.

sounds good. hope the one they send me is a brand spanking new one with a hdmi port. i fully deserve it has i sent my 360 for repair in june and they sending me a broken one. if they send me a new one with hdmi, all will be forgiven or else ist PS3 time for me

the most important issue that Microsoft should focus on is eliminating the excessive heat that causes the hardware failure in the console . i don't know why they are not making any modifications on the console at each version they release to eliminate this major annoying defect in the console.

Sounds good, I sold mine a few weeks back (with the intention of buying another one soon) so I'll wait a little while for this revision.

Hopefully the Quieter DVD Drive will happen too since it drove me crazy, you could pretty much hear it throughout the whole house mid-game.
