Gaming website, Kotaku has been blogging live today from a Metal Gear party in Japan and has revealed some interesting news on a new Metal Gear Solid title.

Metal Gear Online for the PS3 was confirmed and a gameplay demo was shown on the event. According to Kotaku, 'the theme of MG Online is "Hide and Seek." The footage should be online shortly, so we'll link to it via this post as soon as it appears, but for now the only information we know is that in the game you'll be able to switch between first and third person viewpoints.

Other Metal Gear news included the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 2 Bande Dessinee, a new digital comic for PSP.

Konami used the opportunity to talk in-depth about Metal Gear Solid 4, which is due for release in 2008. Set in the year 2015, six years after the Manhattan incident (the events of Metal Gear Solid 2), MGS4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has eased, leading to demands on mercenaries to fight proxy battles for business purposes, fueling the need for private military contractors (PMCs) and automated weapons.

Once again tactical espionage will be at the heart of the gameplay.
