Church of England upset with Resistance Fall of Man

The Church Of England are demanding a large donation from Sony's profits of the PS3 title, Resistance Fall of Man, after officials accused the company of featuring the interior of Manchester Cathedral in their first person shooter.

Following complaints from church goers, a spokesman for the Cathedral has said they will be sending Sony an official letter asking for an apology, a commercial fee, and a 'substantial cut of the game's profits'. They'll also be asking Sony to either withdraw the game or modify the Cathedral's interior.

"For a global manufacturer to re-create one of our great cathedrals with photo-realistic quality and then encourage people to have gun battles in the building is beyond belief and highly irresponsible.

"We know the reality of gun crime and the devastating effects it can have on the lives -- it is not a trivial matter,"
said David Marshall, the Cathedral's spokesperson.

Sony has confirmed they are looking into the matter, but maintain that they sought all necessary permission prior to the inclusion of the Cathedral's interior in the game.

hah, they cant do that surely??

“How dare you use such a well generated digital representation of our church! We are absolutely outra… well unless of course we can have a slice of it? 30%?”

God would be spinning in his grave
I would guess it depends where they got the images from that they used to make the model. If they took them without authorisation, or filmed etc. actually at the church, then yes, absolute right to complain at not being asked.
They've changed their tune, now they want some of the profits?! What a crock
yeah I was under the impression their initial beef was the fact they weren't pleased that the church was ingame and they would use the permissions issue to resolve this.

The church is a business after all. They charged me Ā£750 for getting married there.
