What does Bill Gate's have up his sleeve?

In a panel interview conducted with Apple's CEO Steve Jobs, at the All Things Digital Conference, Bill Gate's has been talking candidly on his future vision for gaming. Gate's told the panel that he "imagines a game machine where you're just going to pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it." It sounds like he's talking about a videogames console that already exists; isn't that Wii?

Well, not according to Gates, who was quick to dismiss any comparison to Nintendo's console "You can't sit there with your friends and do those natural things. That's a 3D positional device. This is video recognition," he said.

So, what do Microsoft have up their sleeves? Will they be the pioneers of the new era of truly interactive gaming? Of course, Gate's is remaining tight lipped on any future plans, but Kara Swisher, one of the Wall Street Journal interviewers at the conference suggested that she might know more than the rest of us. "I know you're working on something," she said. "It's going to be beautiful, we'll see it soon."
