New songs revealed for Guitar Hero Encore

Activision has today announced additional songs to be included in the latest installment of the critically acclaimed Guitar Hero franchise - Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, available this summer exclusively for the PlayStation 2 . The tour will continue with 30 new songs from the classic era. Additional tracks include:

* 18 and Life (as made famous by Skid Row)
* Bathroom Wall (as made famous by Faster Pussycat)
* Lonely is the Night (as made famous by Billy Squier)
* Nothing But a Good Time (as made famous by Poison)
* Play With Me (as made famous by Extreme)
* Shaken (as made famous by Eddie Money)
* Synchronicity II (as made famous by Police)

I've still never hear of any of these songs. These new tracks bring the announced listings to 14, with 16 more(hopefully recognisable) tracks still be announced. Other tracks include I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister, I Ran by Flock of Seagulls,Round and Round,as made famous by Ratt, I Want Candy as made famous by Bow Wow Wow,Metal Health as made famous by Quiet Riot,Holy Diver as made famous by Dio and Heat Of The Moment as made famous by Asia. In total there will be 30 tracks on the new game and you'll be able to jam in a number of retro rock venues.

Of those, I've only heard of ‘Nothing but a good time’ by Poison.
Not heard of any of those, and why are they all “made famous by…”? Is it because its not the original?
None of them are from the original bands. They're all cover versions by people who sound like them. Although some of the lesser known bands will give their permission to use their own tracks.
I thought the reason they had to have covers was because they needed to separate the guitar track from the rest of the song so they could put in the comedy twinks when you mess up. I think they got the lesser known bands you have in the bonus ones to perform their songs.

I heard for Rock Band and another guitar hero that they're actually trying to get the artists to record them this time.
So what you guys are saying is that a song like “Synchronicity II (as made famous by Police)”, even though it's an original, will be a cover in the game for copyright stuff to make it cheaper to make the game?
