Eidos announce two new titles for PS3

Eidos has changed their tune rather quickly. Only two weeks ago they were telling us that they're holding back on releasing big titles on the PS3.

In a conversation they had with MCV, they said: "We have absolutely no doubt that PS3 will be a very successful platform and we’re completely behind it. Ideally, we would like to have a market that is a worldwide installed base of eight to ten million PS3 units by the time we bring out our big products. But we’ll have to assess how that moves."

"We will have some PS3 products over the coming months, but we’re holding back our major top line products until this time next year."

Now it appears they've had a change of heart and have now announced that they will be releasing Kane & Lynch this year and Crossfire next year. They believe that the move will benefit both franchises.

Eidos parent company, SCI, has released the following statement:

"The Board believes that the short term impact of the revised release schedule will be more than compensated for by the upside of the addition of a PlayStation 3 version and a multi-platform simultaneous release at a time when next generation platforms are at critical mass.

"Accordingly the Board will initially increase its internal profit target for the 2008 financial year by approximately £10 million, which is significantly more than the reduction to the 2007 financial year."

So, there you go, two cracking games now coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
