FOXCONN and ASUSTeK to compete for PS3 production?
According to a report from the Chinese Commercial Times newspaper, via Digitimes, FOXCONN Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) has now been approved and has received official certification from Sony to mass produce the PS3. So far, ASUSTeK has been manufacturing the console, although Sony did reveal last year that FOXCONN would be brought into the manufacturing chain at some point.
That time has arrived and FOXCONN will now be manufacturing the console to meet consumer demand in the second half of 2007, in particular in the lead up to the Christmas period. The newspaper states that the two companies will be competing for PS3 orders from Sony.
