According to Chart-Track, via GamesIndustry.biz, and despite all the negative publicity in the lead up to launch , the PS3 has broken console sales records in the UK, notching up 165,000 unit sales in the first 2 days.

When it boils down to it, it seems as though it doesn't matter what many people in the games industry think, it's the gamers that vote with their pockets, and if the figures are accurate, than the Playstation brand has once again come up trumps.

On launch day there were reports across the web regarding poor turn-outs at the various launch events around the country, but it appears that it didn't show the true picture. It's true that Sony did delay the UK launch of the PS3, which meant they could ship out far more consoles than Microsoft and Nintendo could on their prospective launch days, and in the coming months it's going to be interesting to see whether Sony can sustain the high sales, but for now, Sony can put another feather in their caps and bask in the glory of another successful launch.
