The official marketing campaign for Halo 3 has kicked off with a snazzy looking poster advertising a rough release date. In the Halo 3 weekly update, Bungie have stated that Halo 3 will arrive this Autumn

"While it may not be anything new for fans who have been following Halo 3 all along, it's still very cool, very iconic and evokes a sense of mystery and intrigue. It teases you if you will," say Bungie about the new poster.

Bungie has also confirmed that there is still no set date for the release of of the Halo 3 beta phase, "There are still many details of the Halo 3 beta to be finalized but one thing we did want to confirm is that the beta will not be starting next week," said Brian Jarrard, community leader at Bungie. "Crackdown will be available in stores starting Tuesday,20/02, but the Halo 3 multiplayer beta start date is still being finalized. We're still aiming for a Spring release, but it could be more like late Spring."

Gamers who haven't won one of the community site competitions to win a beta key can pick up a copy of Crackdown which will contain a key. It still may not be enough though, because if you miss out on downloading the beta client during the one day when it will be made available, you won't get another chance to join!
