If you boot up your Wii today and head over to the Virtual console store you'll be able to download three retro titles. The three games are Super Mario World on the SNEA, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on the NES and Vigilante on Turbografx-16.

Super Mario World - 800 Wii points

The game consists of a journey through levels in seven worlds: Yoshi's Island, Donut Plains, Vanilla Dome, Twin Bridges Area (including the Cheese & Butter Bridges and Soda Lake), Forest of Illusion, Chocolate Island, and the Valley of Bowser. There are also two secret worlds - Star Road and Special Zone (accessed via the Star World) - which can be found by completing secondary goals in specific levels.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 500 Wii points

Zelda II is a direct sequel to the original Legend of Zelda, and again involves the protagonist Link (now 16 years old) on a quest to save a new Princess Zelda who has fallen under a sleeping spell. Zelda II’s emphasis on side-scrolling and RPG-style elements, however, was a significant change from its predecessor and has given it the common reputation as the “black sheep” of the series. Nonetheless, the game was highly successful and introduced many elements that would become commonplace in future Zelda games.

Vigilante - 600 Wii points

Brave the streets of New York City in this side-scrolling beat-'em-up game. Thugs kidnap the beloved Madonna, and it's up to players to become vigilantes. Players fight their way into enemy territory to get her back. Enemies attack with weapons like iron pipes, chains, guns and motorcycles. To fight back, players can punch, kick or use the "nunchaku" item that appears in the stage. Players must use each of the attacks effectively to defeat their enemies. To clear a stage, defeat the boss that waits at the end. Players fight their way through exciting stages that include the City Streets, Junkyard, Brooklyn Bridge and the Backstreets.

Every Friday in Europe, Nintendo will be releasing titles on the Virtual console.

Super Mario World is defiantly worth the download if its anything like it was on the SNES. I spent hours on that game even doing the side game. Worth It!
