With slow sales in the US and Japan, Sony are hoping that interest-free credit will boost launch sales of the PS3 in the UK.

For the first time, a videogames store may be offering interest-free credit for purchasing a game console. Apparently, Sony Europe are striking up a deal with GAME which will allow people who can't afford the console to buy now and pay later.

The news was leaked after a Sony rep visited a GAME store and the manager spoke out on the proposal saying, "It's worrying. At the end of the day all sorts of forms have to be filled out for interest free credit - we're going to have hundreds of people queueing up on launch morning - the last thing we need is more to slow down the launch experience."

Sony have refused to comment on the rumour.

The PS3 will launch in Europe on March 23rd at a retail price of Ā£425 for the 20GB unit.

In your story you say the 20Gb version of the PS3 will be £425, it's actually the 60Gb version that will be £425.
