Imagine being paid 1 million dollars to play your favourite videogame! In the United States, Major League Gaming (MLG) is the largest organized league and international sanctioning body for the world's fastest growing competitive sport and yesterday they announced that they've signed seven new players in a deal that will see them net $1.25 million over the next three years.

These professional gamers are set to make a fortune by attempting to beat the world's greatest players on Halo 2.

Plucked from obscurity, these new stars of the gaming world were just like thousands of other players around the world who play in teams and compete in online tournaments, but their commitment to the MLG scene and their obvious skill in the gaming arena have booked them a place in the gaming elite.

“Everyone has always said, ‘make sure you enjoy what you are doing! That is the most important thing.’ I can honestly say that I am doing something I love and now I’m in a better position to make profit off of it as well.” said Shockwave, one of the newly signed players.

Who knows how long it will last for them, but for the next three years at least, these 7 gamers will now be able to focus entirely on gaming without needing to worry about real work. Congratulations guys!

Incidentally, if any would-be sponsors are reading, the HEXUS.gaming staff are excellent Viva Pinata players and we reckon our breeding techniques would definitely make us amongst the best in the world.
