Microsoft's Blue Dragon, set to hit Europe in early 2007, has hit the top of the Japanese charts and became the second fastest selling Xbox 360 game to date, with approximately 80,000 units being sold in the first week.

The fantasy RPG is the brainchild of Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and has received top scores on many Japanese websites, including the respected news site, Famitsu.

The release of Blue Dragon is said to have caused a surge in Xbox 360 sales in Japan, with a rise of 90% over the previous week's figure.
