It's getting ever closer folks. This week will see the highly anticipated launch of Wii in the United Kingdom! If you haven't already pre-ordered ,you're probably going to have to wait for the second batch of consoles to be delivered (which we understand will be the following week). Meanwhile, the Wii launched in Japan on Saturday with 400,000 consoles being made available in stores. Unsurprisingly, initial reports, stemming from the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbunare, claim that the console sold out by midday!

At Bic Camera in Tokyo, staff had to turn customers away at 5.40am due to a queue of over 3,000 people (apparently) forming throughout the night. Nintendo shipped 4 times the amount of consoles compared to the launch of the PS3 in Japan, but many consumers still left the shops empty-handed.

In the US, Wii sales are said to still be going strong with over 600,000 units sold in the first eight days. The second batch of Wii is apparently due on December 18th. The UK can look forward to their share of the excitement on December 8th when Wii launches across the country. Wii can't wait!
