Wii - Controller Grip WII
Pre-Order: £6.84 (RRP £7.99)

In a revealing interview with MTV news, Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime has suggested that the company are doing everything in their power to bring GoldenEye 007, one of the best selling videogames in recent history, to the Wii Virtual Console (videogame download service). One of the most popular games of all-time, GoldenEye 007 is well-known for the quality of its multiplayer deathmatch mode and its incorporation of stealth and varied objectives in the single player missions. Gamers will be delighted if the N64 title can be converted onto the Virtual console platform, but Nintendo do have a battle on their hands when it comes to securing the rights to the title.

"Would I love to see it on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there," said Reggie. "Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues."

The issue that Reggie is rreferring to is the fact that Microsoft purchased U.K.based Rare Ltd, the mastermind behind GoldenEye 007, back in 2002 so it would mean that both Microsoft and Activision, who now hold the James Bond license, would have to agree to the title being re-released.

Back in March 2006, the idea that GoldenEye 07 would appear on Wii was dismissed by reports coming from the Game Developer's Conference. Reggie has now restored some hope for the fans of GoldenEye 07 and the mere thought that Nintendo are looking into the possibility can only be a good thing. Fingers crossed.

I mean...ever.

Goldeneye on the Wii....damn I hope they give it a new control system!!Quote
I hate to be the one to say this, but I won't be getting it if they do re-release it.

Sure, in its time, GoldenEye was a great game. Revolutionary, one might say. However, I doubt the engine has withstood the test of time; although the maps are still great, the way it runs just seems too old and difficult to use, especially given how much the fps genre has progressed. :(Quote
Ah come on man ;)

Seriously I played it on my mates N64 the other day with 4-5 of us and it was an absolute blast!!Quote
Good to hear, i was thinking of buying a N64 on ebay for this alone about 3 months back. Cant wait for my Wii to turn up!Quote
I think if Microsoft and Activision were smart - they would remake Goldeneye entirely and have a control scheme similar to resident evil 4 for the Wii - however since nintendo and microsoft are rivals in the game console market I personally think it doubtful for such luck. virtual console... perhaps, but again i personally think *** would make a port to the 360 if anything.Quote
