The Washington Post has an interesting article regarding the PS3 vs. Wii. The Post's technology columnist, Mike Musgrove, invited a few non-gaming friends around to play on the two consoles to see which one they would find the most impressive. Before they arrived at the testing location the party were more excited about seeing the PS3 in action, but as the article reveals, it was Wii that stole the limelight.

While the party enjoyed the graphics of the PS3 games, they were soon cursing the console and had far more fun playing Wii. The article isn't entirely fair on the PS3 as these people aren't familiar with pressing multiple buttons on a joypad, but what it does demonstrate is that people looking to take their first journey into the world of consoles will find the intuitive, but simple controls of Wii far easier to handle.

There was mayhem in America after Sony only released approximately 400,000 PS3s (analysts suggest there were far fewer) as some gamers bustled and fought their way to the front of queues; reports of drive-by shootings and consumers heading to the shops in gangs for protection have been reported across the media. Meanwhile, Wii launch went off without a hitch with 1 million consoles being made available. According to early figures, over 600,000 Wiis were sold on the first day. There are currently no figures available regarding PS3 sales.

I agree, the headline isn't really my words as I'm not surprised at all. Just thought it would echo the feelings of the majority perhaps…maybe not…oh well…better luck next time!:)
