Sony seem to think us European gamers aren't bothered that we'll have to wait till March to get our mitts on the Playstation 3, in fact he seems to think that it's actually a good strategy that will see more units being sold on our shores.

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Europe Vice President, Jamie Mcdonald may be right when it comes to the figures, but he's sure as hell wrong if he thinks we're not bothered.

MacDonald has said that "European consumers have shown historically that they don't mind the delays, because they end up buying as many PlayStations, if not more, than the US and Japan." and showed that he is totally out of touch with gamers by saying "In Europe, it doesn't seem that the release of our platforms after the US and Japan - in the long run - affects how consumers feel."

It seems Mcdonald has come to the conclusion based on previous sales figures, without even checking the numerous forums where gamers are expressing their disappointment.

The PS3 campaign has been full to the brim with untruths and these comments don't help restore our faith in Sony's commitment to European gamers. All he had to do was apologise and tell us how much the European market means to Sony and that would have been enough. If Mcdonald's comments are an indication of Sony's overall opinion, the European market obviously means a lot to Sony in terms of the cash, but do they care about the customer...judging by these comments, it appears not.

The point to make here is are we gamers bothered? Yes, we are cause it's been discussed in excrutating detail already. However, are the general public bothered? No, I seriously doubt it. They're probably only vaguely aware of the PS3 and that's about it.
I've got to be honest, I was initially excited about the PS3. But as time went on and more and more details came to light, I've found my interest waining (and this is from a long time gamer)…
Personally I enjoy the Xbox 360 so I'm not overly bothered about the delay, but judging by reaction from Sony fan sites it's clear to see that the hardcore of Sony fans are bothered. It just seems ludicrous that they haven't acknowledged this, but instead brush it off as if those fans don't care.
Sony have always been oblivious to their customers - arrogance is _their_ artform.
I have to say I agree with Dangel, the Sony team seem to be very arrogant at the moment, not just in their PS3 bit too.

Both their laptop and desktop are overpriced as are almost all their products except maybe their optical drives, using the complaints departments involves initially trying to convince them its not your fault, and then convince them it is their job to fix it. This has happened 3 times out of the last four, and despite being in warranty it has always cost money through a get out clause, luckily they are company products so I didn't have to pay.

Their slow response to the battery issue also shows considerable arrogance, as is the assumption that initially it was only Dell's.

Now I don't want to see the end of Sony but customer service is king nowadays so they need to pick it up!
