Since the first frightening images appeared a little over a year ago, gamers worldwide have felt the ominous rumblings of something approaching that defies all convention. Trailers and screenshots have left gamer breathless with many saying that Gears of War is their most wanted game of 2006.

We hate to p*ss on your bonfire, but some of the latest reviews of Gears of War, submitted after some hands-on gameplay from Microsoft and New Line Cinema's “match made in hell” event, haven't been particularly complimentary.

Gears of War has cost $10 million to develop over the course of the last two years, but there's a number of complaints emerging from this recent event, citing control issues as being the main annoyance.

Cold 2 play have reported that "the biggest problem is there’s more to think about to move your guy around than say in Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter, whereas Siliconera.com goes into more detail by stating that “You hold A to run, but you also press it to duck. If you run near a car you stop running and duck behind it. It doesn’t seem like a glitch to me. It seems like the game doesn’t know if you want to run or duck behind the car.”

Many of the gamers who attended the event were blown away with the graphics and smoothness of gameplay, but these two accounts of control problems aren't the only ones to emerge from the hands-on preview.

Gears of War isn't released in the UK until 17th November so there's still time to fix any issues with the game!

umm it still wont persuade me not to buy the game as im sure they will fix the control issues for the game. either way, the game looks amazing
i have read that it was fantastic from a lot of people on gamespot. Some even saying it was a perfect ten so i take both with a pinch of salt.

also i have read on many accounts that it was the game to play at just about every show lately with the stop and pop gameplay being a breath of fresh air. Sounds to me like a couple of gamers that couldnt get the hang of the controls.

Im also suprised that you didnt include the other quotes saying

One enthusiastic fan said he “loved the gore and blood and.” His buddy Sepher played in the same match and said that Gears of War “plays really well. It’s going to require a lot of team tactics.” After playing one of the first matches another gamer claimed that Gears of War was “kick ass” and while the general tone of the audience was positive we spoke to another gamer who was more critical of the game."

im not having a moan by the way, just seemed a bit overly negative to me

Very true, I take your point. I know it's had lots of great praise as well ( I did mention that many people were blown away by it) but we've already mentioned the positive loads, so the story was about the negative press. Perhaps I should have balanced it out a bit though like you said. I'm still looking forward to it!:)
Gears of War is just a must have game, I'm really looking forward to it. I've got a bucket ready in preparation of the drooling I may do when I first see it on the big screen.
This does nothing to dissuade me whatsoever. Im getting this on release date (something i havnt done in a long, long time).
