To coincide with the announcement of the launch and price details for the Japanese and US, Nintendo have opened the official Wii site. The Japanese section of the website is the only part that is accessible at the moment, we'd expect the U.S. section to be open later today and the European section on Friday.

The Japanese section show video clips of some of the Wii channels, which include the 'Weather' channel (yes it's going to be showing the weather forecasts), the 'Caricature' channel, where you'll be able to create min-versions of yourselves or your friends,and a 'News Channel', which will show all the latest news.

There are also a number of other channels that are yet to be unveiled. Once the U.S. site opens we'll be able to understand exactly what these channels mean, until then check out http://www.wii.com.
