There will be no Xbox 360 price cut this Christmas. Instead Microsoft will be selling a new bundle package that will consist of the new Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on. Games Industry.biz are reporting that the premium bundle and movie player will retail at approximately 400 GBP. They also report that the stand-alone HD DVD player will retail at 199 GBP with the choice of two movies.

This means that Microsoft have stuck to their promise of selling the console and HD DVD premium bundle at a cheaper price than Sony's PS3.

Both the movie player and the premium bundle are expected to be available from November.

Interesting pricing structure. Although not confirmed I don't think that's too far off the mark.
It's probably not too far off the mark. The price for the drive on its own is a bit higher than I'd have expected though. The bundle is also only cheaper compared to the 60GB PS3, which offers a lot more than that bundle for maybe £25 more (40GB extra space, Wifi, HDMI 1.3 etc.). A closer comparison would be to the 20GB PS3, whenever we get a UK price for it.
The £199 they're suggesting for the standalone player includes two HD-DVD movies.

I agree with you though Lexic, I expected it a little cheaper. Say, £150.
does anyone know how this is going to work? Will it only display HD-DVDs over composite or will it do it via the VGA cable
