An Xbox live gamer going by the gamertag C4Lukin has spent way too much time counting the number of downloads for each game on the Xbox live arcade in an effort to discover the correct sales figures. Whilst it gives us some indication of the sales figures, it doesn't take into account multiple account users or those who haven't posted their live scores.

According to these unofficial figures it appears as though Hexic 3d is the top seller with over 500,000 downloads whilst propping up the pack is Wik Fable of Souls with just 15,000 downloads. Hey, what's wrong with you lot, seeing Wik's super strong frog-like tongue in action makes it one of the best arcade games by a long shot!

Microsoft's recently revealed that 30 new titles will be available for download by the end of the summer, and a further 20 by the end of 2006, including the highly anticipated title Street Fighter II : Hyper Fighting, out on August 2nd.

Estimated downloads

Astropop- 21,321
Bankshot Billiards- 35,136
Bejeweled 2- 50,994
Cloning Clyde- 14,063
Crystal Quest- 29,557
Feeding Frenzy- 50,229
Frogger- 43,416
Gauntlet- 77,394
Geometry Wars- 188,428
Hexic HD- 566,230
Jewel Quest- 18,091
Joust- 45,010
Marble Blast Ultra- 107,886
Mutant Storm Reloaded- 38,726
Outpost Kaloki X- 23,732
Robotron 2084- 22,887
Smash TV- 78,790
Uno- 143,223
Wik Fable of Souls- 15,591
Zuma- 70,264

Microsoft have not released any individual game's sales figures.

Very interesting, and an awesome resource!

I wrote an article a few months ago about the pros and cons of estimating sales with this method that might be useful in connection with this headline.

Also, these numbers seem off in some cases. I wonder which Outpost Kaloki leaderboard he measures. If you use the first level of the adventure story, there are over 35,000 entries, and it has been over 30,000 for quite a while now.

And, of course, we're still in the first week of Cloning Clyde, so its numbers are climbing quickly.

And I agree about Wik. It's a tremendously cool game and clearly underappreciated.
