Oh yes, Uranus is a Titan

Hands up everyone who remembers watching Clash of the Titans or Jason and the Argonauts in classical studies whilst still at school? I’m guessing there are quite a few of us that remember those films well and loving the fact that sitting down during lesson times, learning about ancient Greece and the mythology meant we got to watch some movies. Greek mythology is chock full of great stories about gods, monsters, heroes and, of course, the Titans.

Since those films, Disney released Hercules and then we’ve seen Kevin Sorbo in Hercules the Legendary Journeys, bringing Hercules up to date with new special effects. Alongside Hercules we’ve had Xena Warrior Princess with Lucy Lawless and, although there were a few crossovers, I personally thought Hercules was the better of the two.

So, what better subject matter for an action RPG than taking the ancient Greek mythology with all of its monsters, gods and titans and creating the ancient world for everyone to see? Diablo 2 was the last really good single player action RPG in my eyes so Titan Quest has a lot to live up to. RPG’s are definitely my thing; I’ve battled through Guild Wars, both Diablo games and their expansions, Dungeon Siege and its expansion and currently working through Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and still getting in some Guild Wars Factions action, so Titan Quest needs to be something a bit special.

At first glance, Titan Quest might appear to the uninitiated to be just another hack and slash affair with an RPG stats system tacked on. But is this true? Is there more to Titan Quest than meets the eye? Slip on your sandals, wrap a bedsheet around you waist and buckle up those leather gauntlets… No, we’re not going to a kinky toga party, we’re taking a stroll through Titan Quest.
