GAME Stores Group Ltd, Europe’s leading specialist games retailer, has raised over £13,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund through the sale of St George’s Cross pin badges throughout all 400 of the chain’s UK stores. The Bobby Moore Fund, which is part of Cancer Research UK, raises money for research into bowel cancer and also public awareness of the disease. The Fund was set up in memory of footballer Bobby Moore OBE, who died from bowel cancer, aged just 51.

To date the charity has raised over £5 million to help tackle bowel cancer with the funds spent on high-quality bowel cancer research carried out by leading scientists working across the UK. The money raised to date has funded 15 Bobby Moore Research Fellowships and a new bowel cancer laboratory at St Mark's Hospital in London.

Throughout the World Cup the St George's Cross pin badge offered all England fans the chance to show their support for their team whilst honouring the memory of Bobby Moore.

Mike Elliott, Central Operations Manager commented, “GAME is proud to be supporting the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and we are honoured to be helping to raise money for the fund and to promote its message through our stores."

Cancer Research UK Corporate Partnerships Manager, Christine Allingham, said: "We are thrilled that GAME Stores Group Ltd has supported the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK through the sale this summer of St Georges Cross pin badges. We really appreciate the support of them and their customers in helping us tackle bowel cancer.”
