Halo 3

Over the last few weeks Bungie have been revealing some tasty morsels on their first person shooter : Halo 3.

The latest Bungie update reveals that a new user interface will improve the gaming experience and fans of the Halo 2 interface needn't be phased by the changes. The official site states that "the interface is designed to make it very simple to get to a "lobby" and make all necessary changes from there - so that you can customize your experience, appearance, and more importantly, really specific game types from anywhere."

In a previous update, Bungie told us more about the multiplayer aspect of Halo 3 stating that many of the matchmaking playlists will be chosen by specially selected Halo communities. We'll also get to use plenty of new weapons, as well as some of the familiar old ones.

Halo 3 will end the current story arc of the Halo trilogy. Bungie revealed that the game will have a new "materials system" so advanced that "you could see light reflect off the ground and onto his armor", which will be able to show the difference between his armor and the rubber undersuit". The official site also states that "It's so detailed that if you bring the camera close to the Master Chief's visor, you see everything in front of him reflected in it, right down to the ammo counter in his rifle". In addition, there will be new advanced texturing to reflect permanent, persistent damage.

Halo 3 will be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2007.
