It's got critters and flippers...

Flipper Critters, claim publishers Conspiracy Entertainment Europe, is set to redefine the entire pinball genre – and create the fastest, funniest, the most colourful and exciting pinball game to reach the Nintendo DS

The entire Flipper Critters experience is set in a fantasy world, complete with strange characters, quests and arcade mini-games. Utilising both screens, Flipper Critters shows off every angle and aspect of the cartoon world in which the game is set.

Instead of confining the action to a standard pinball table, all of the flipping action in Flipper Critters takes place in a variety of landscapes, locations and areas, from town squares and mountain valleys through to towering castles and even the surface of the moon. All of the favourite pinball features are here, including ramps, sinkholes, bumpers, jackpots, gates and goals, though they’ve all had the Flipper Critter twist.

Flipper Critters also features a load of mini-games which challenge players to master a variety of new skills and make use of the unique aspects of the Nintendo DS, including the touch screen and WiFi.

Players can access several mini games and travel to different areas of the map from the pinball tables within the game. The mini games and areas can be accessed in any order, making the gaming experience different for each player and each gameplay session.

Throughout the game, players will encounter and receive help from some of Flipper Critters' peculiar inhabitants. Characters can offer help, cast spells or offer the player quests and challenges to undertake, helping them to reach new areas of the map.

In a first for the DS, both display screens in full 3D. Regular DS gamers will testify that usually only the top or bottom screens show a full 3D view. Flipper Critters runs the 3D action across both screens simultaneously.

The story in Flipper Critters is moved along by the missions and objectives, but you still have a high degree of freedom in deciding what missions to do next and where to travel, making each game a different experience from the last.

Full use has been made of the environments with villages, mountain tops and even the surface of the moon becoming pinball tables to give you fast paced arcade action with state-of-the-art ball physics and fast and responsive control.

Using the DS’ Wi Fi features, 2 players can duel in each mini game and there are three kinds of mini games linking the pinball tables in the Story Mode, which you unlock as you proceed through the game.

Flipper Critters DS is due out in September 2006.

This sounds like good news :D i've been waiting for a decent pinball game for the DS. I like the way they've extended the genre - should stop it from becoming repetitive quickly. Typical Nintendo styling though :p
