Sony Online Entertainment have released their first podcast where they talk about the titles EverQuest, Everquest 2, and EverQuest Online adventures. Even Xbox live's Major Nelson is encouraging people to listen to the podcast, which at first seems rather strange. However, once you actually listen the podcast, it's clear that Mr Nelson must be pointing fun at the wooden, uninspiring dialogue.

The community relations manager of Everquest, who speedily chats away to the game's designer, sounds nervous and, whilst a creepy orchestral score plays in the background, it's clear that she's reading straight from the script. The podcast is far too formal, technical, and is so fast paced that it's difficult to absorb all of the information.

I don't want to knock Sony's first attempt too much. It's a nice idea and can surely only get better with practice. Just slow it down, chat informally, hire some people with personality, and get rid of that horrid music in the background.

There's also some hilarious 'sucking up' from an Everquest official to SOE but you'll need to listen to the second half of the podcast.
