Commodore International Corporation have signed an agreement in which they’ve acquired 49 per cent of the overall shares of Commodore gaming.

The Commodore gaming license is a joint venture with The Content Factory and aims to develop, distributes and sell mobile, PC, video game related products, and entertainment content under the Commodore Gaming brand.

The deal was announced in 2005, but finally it’s been signed, sealed and delivered.

Ben van Wijhe, President of Commodore International Corporation said, "Gaming is one of Commodore's key historic competences, and the conclusion of this agreement emphasizes Commodore's strategy to build on the strengths of the rich Commodore heritage."

Commodore International Ltd were declared bankruptcy on April 29, 1994, and its assets were liquidated. In 2004 the Commodore name was bought by Yeahronimo Media Ventures with the clear intention of bringing the name back into the gaming arena. Their dream is now on its way to becoming reality.

:undecided Never forgiven them for running the Amiga into the ground..
tbh it's only the name that's left, it's been sold off that many times there's now nothing left from the days of the amiga..
It looks like their trying to jump in on the mobile games market first and foremost. It will be interesting to see what happens to them this time - this new company appears to have big plans.
The only good thing they have done recently, was to take the designer of the Commodore One - and to make the Joystick version of the C64 (with a load of games built in) … that can actually be turned back into a single chip C64 if you have the patience to fiddle with electronics :)
Amen to that.
