Europe waits

It looks as though Nintendo won't be following in the footsteps of Microsoft and Sony when the 'Revolution' is launched this year.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata appeared to have no desire to give the console a worldwide launch. He said, "We don't think it's necessary to do the simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this."

Knowing that our North American friends will be getting their hands on the console later this year is frustrating, and European fans will be dissapointed at the news.

Microsoft struggled with the world-wide launch of the Xbox 360 and we can expect more problems with Sony's Playstation 3 launch so, look on the bright side, at least we should be able to walk into our local shop and buy one on launch day.

So.. we might actually be able to buy one when they're actually released, instead of just watching lots of sold out signs and ‘you can buy it for a grand on ebay’ instead? Yay :)
What he really means to say is Japan is his target audience and the rest of the world exists to finance Nintendo. The North American market, while smaller per capita, is larger overall than any other market; yet, console makers treat it as a secondary market.

I shouldn't complain. Getting the consoles second means we have less bugs than the Japanese. Europeans have less bugs than us. Good things come to those who wait . I'll buy it anyway.
