The Game developer's conference in San Jose, California kicked off yesterday and will see a number of key note speeches throughout the week, the most interesting being Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. Nintendo have been tight-lipped about the Revolution, and their Global marketing campaign has hardly even begun, so this year there is far more interest from the general public as well as game developers. Nintendo fans World-wide are hoping that more information will be made available on the anticipated console.

However, whilst Sony Computer Entertainment President, Phil Harrisson takes to the stage on Wednesday in a speech designed to showcase the flexibility of the PS3, entitled 'Playstation 3:Beyond the Box,' Iwata's speech is entitled 'Disrupting Development' where he will talk about ' how a string of recent disruptive products from Nintendo—the Nintendo DS, the ‘brain-training’ games, and Nintendo WiFi Connection—surprised the market.'

Despite Iwata's choice of keynote, anaylsts seem pretty certain that further details of Nintendo's plans will be unveiled.

Yesterday at GDC Microsoft dished out a "prerelease version" of XNA Studio. XNA was revealed a couple of years ago at GDX and 'is a set of development tools meant to unify development of PC, Xbox, and Xbox 360 titles'.This was the first opportunity for developers to get hands-on with the product. They alos revealed the Xbox Live Server Platform, which allows developers to create their own back-end servers to run with Xbox Live.

Sony's keynote speech takes place on Wednesday, whilst Nintendo's speech is on Thursday.
