Sequel planned

Joystiq have reported that Ubisoft's Michel Ancel has begun work on a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil.

Beyond Good & Evil was oringainlly designed by Michael, who also designed Rayman, and was released back in 2003. The story followed Jade, a female reporter and was dubbed "the best game that nobody ever played".

The poor sales of the original haven't stopped it from becoming a cult classic and, with the new technology at the desginer's fingertips, it could make a dramatic comeback.

Beyong Good & Evil could be described as a stealthy action-adventure. It required teamwork and had some great mini games, even travelling around the world was fun, with the upgradeable hovercraft.

Ubisoft have not yet confirmed the new title, or confirmed its exsistence.

Update

A French Nintendo website has contacted Ubisoft who have said, "absolutely NO sequel to BGE is currently under development. This rumour is pure speculation"

AT LAST!!!

Beyond Good and Evil was a really awesome game. I really hope this is true and that it has as much polish, charm, characterisation and just plain humour as the first one.
Oh yeah….

I lost a few weeks to this game, and guess what?… I'm going to reinstall it for the LAN next weekend as CS Source at 4am hurts the eyes where I will still be able to love beyond G&E :)
i wonder what prompted this - the first was a retail flop.

perhaps the front cover of the box will just be a big picture of michel ancel with his knighthood medal?
I still haven't played through Beyond Good and Evil. I bought it last year and haven't found the time to play it. It's just sitting in one of my cabinets. I'm on spring break, as of today. Wouldn't you know it, I left it at school. I finally have time to play it, and I leave the game 180 miles away :(

I bought a book yesterday to occupy my time :(
