Judging solely from the hordes of pre-release trailers and gameplay footage for Gears of War 3 so far, we’re taking it for granted that the conclusion to one of Xbox 360’s most celebrated sagas will be a visually spectacular one when it lands on September 30, 2011.

What we didn’t expect, however, is for a storyline that will attempt to tug at our heart strings throughout the single player campaign and may even deliver a finale that could be on a par with the spectacular way that Bungie concluded its Halo trilogy with such style (no spoilers here).

Epic Games has hinted at a tender end to the current story arc for some time, using the tag-line “Brothers To The End” frequently during asset drops, but a new interview now reveals that the build up to what will no doubt be an poignant conclusion could be more touching than we ever imagined.

Speaking with CVG, executive producer Rod Fergusson gives the lowdown on the storyline, revealing the studio’s aim to make it feel personal through themes of friendship, trust and even a father’s love as four "brothers" battle to save the planet.

Okay, so Gears of War 3 probably isn't going to make grown-men cry in the same way that perhaps getting knocked out of the World Cup might, but it’s definitely going to be interesting to see just how things conclude here and whether this "harrowing" tale can really move and engage us as much as Epic hopes.

From what I have read around the net also they are incorporating stereoscopic 3D into this one so should be pretty cool with the whole depth of field thing. Cant wait for it, no doubt this will start a new era for the 360 with 3D games and should be able to play a little catchup with the PS3.
