A Swedish networking company is currently developing a first-person shooter that will host 1,000 players online in a mammoth one off battle.

Pikkotekk is hoping to smash the world record for hosting the most FPS players in a multiplayer match by using a browser-based platform and a central server amd various sub-server that overlap.

"The Pikko architecture consists of Pikko Server and several cell servers working together. Players in an online multiplayer game connect to Pikko Server, which handles load balancing between the cell servers. The cell servers handle physics, game logic and more." explains Pikkotekk’s Christian Lonnholm.

The video shows off the concept, with a rather basic-looking battle between tanks and robots. Pikkotekk itself describes it as a "crappy looking 1000 player shooter that you can play in the browser."

One to keep an eye on though, we reckon. If the Swedish developers can pull this off, it could spell the start of a new evolution for browser-based games.

Absolutely got to give that a go…:clapping:
that could be hilarious fun. I wonder how many of the 1000 will use cheats?
