Top 5 games of 2010 as voted for by HEXUS readers

Over the past few weeks, readers from the HEXUS.community have been voting for their top video game of 2010. With the likes of Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2 and Fallout New Vegas all up for nomination, it's been a tough choice, but the votes have been totted up and the results are now in.

Unsurprisingly, in line with many other websites that are hosting Game Of The Year awards, it turns out that Mass Effect 2 has steam-rolled the opposition with a massive 78% of all votes, making the sci-fi RPG the most comprehensive winner of our Game Of The Year awards since they began. Here's the top five as voted for by the HEXUS community. Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote.

GAME OF THE YEAR 2010

1. Mass Effect 2
"Ultimately, Mass Effect hasn’t renovated the series. It’s still the same old “Mother Teresa answer” vs. “Hitler answer” routine, and it still isn’t an RPG. And it hasn’t eradicated all of its predecessor’s faults. But it has certainly built a truly versatile story, developing from your choices in the first game, and assembling a team of captivating people whose personalities and livelihoods effortlessly intertwine with your own, leading to some gut-wrenching decisions along the way. All-in-all, a genuinely immersing experience that you won’t get anywhere else. "

2. Fallout New Vegas
"There's so much to do and so much to think about in New Vegas. While combat-focused main missions and side objectives provide the main bulk of campaign, leveling up and moulding your character to your particular play-style is always at the forefront of your mind. And then there's looting, crafting, trading, NPC dialogue and your reputation to think about. There are so many factors in play that affect the outcome of things in New Vegas that the playability and replay value is immense."
