Sony released a 160GB and 320GB “classic white” PS3 console in Japan last month and it was rumoured, although unconfirmed, that the two PS3 SKUs would be making their way to North America and Europe later this year.

Well, according to Play-Mag, a “very reliable source” from UK retail has tipped them off. According to the insider, the two consoles will ship in the U.K. in October 2010, approximately one month after the release of PlayStation Move.

The source didn’t confirm whether the consoles would be “classic white,” or black. If it is true, we’d expect Sony to confirm the rumour at GamesCon in Germany later this month.

yeah it miffed me too that they took that out

also i dont see who wants a white console? silver ones and black ones sure, fits with the rest of your devices, but white, really?
Looking to get the GT5 bundle when it finally comes out. Hopefully the 160gb will cost a little less.
The white one looked the best out of them all.
personallly I don't see sony bringing back backwards compatability. Also with these new bigger HDDs, my guess is that sony will probabily introduce PS2 games via PSN, I've also heard rumours of dreamcast games coming too.

Plus there are talks of old PS2 classics becoming remastered like God of War 1 and 2.
