Sony Computer Entertainment and Zipper Interactive's ambitious online shooter, MAG, has been given the green light for release following the ongoing beta phase.

MAG will utilise a new server architecture to support online battles with up to 256 players, with users divided into 8-player squads, 4 squads forming a platoon, and 4 platoons forming a company.

The date to pencil in your diaries is January 29, 2010. SCEE's Elliott Martin recently wrote on the European PlayStation blog, reassuring players that current connection issues should be ironed out by launch. Let's hope the servers hold up!
