Following rumours that Microsoft is readying a new Xbox 360 SKU that will pack a 250GB hard-drive, comes the news that Sony may well be doing exactly the same thing with a new PS3 Slim console.

Eurogamer claims that a retailer has confirmed that Sony will launch a 250GB PS3 Slim in October, which will sell at RRP £299.99. It's rumoured that it will be bundled with either Assassin's Creed II, Gran Turismo 5 or Uncharted 2.

The 120GB PS3 Slim launched earlier this month and with week one sales reported as being in excess of 40,000 units in the U.K, there's probably going to be a few people who are going to be slightly irritated that a new SKU is already on the horizon.

The existence of the 250GB PS3 Slim has yet to be confirmed, but it's believed that Sony is due to make an official announcement very shortly. It's going to be interesting to see whether Microsoft will follow suit, or even beat them to it.

Storage for games/demos/tv recordings/music/films/photos etc etc etc

Had 250gb for a while now in mine, pretty full so going to start setting up a nas soon.
As for PS3 slim 120 owners being irked, the Slim has an upgradeable hard drive, so I'll be grabbing a 120GB with it's slow ass 5400rpm drive and swapping in a decent 10000rpm drive of suitable capacity. I'm off to get my slim later, and there's no concern here over a 250GB SKU here for exactly that reason.
Theirs no such thing as too much storage, so good news. :)
