Logitech has revealed its G27 Racing Wheel, successor to the popular G25. The updated model, pictured below, features a handful of changes and will be reaching stores in the U.S. and Europe in September.

Although similar in appearance, the G27 has been given a few obvious upgrades. The number of buttons on the 11in wheel has risen from two to six, and there's a set of ten LEDs that can be used by game developers to indicate data such as RPM.

According to Logitech, however, the most significant improvement is the introduction of a helical gear system to the force feedback transmission. Unlike the straight-cut (spur) gears of the G25, the G27 sports a diagonal-cut (helical) design. The change should provide "a significant reduction in noise and improvement in turning smoothness as well", says Logitech.

Elsewhere, the G27 features higher standoffs for both clutch and brake pedals, and each pedal can now be adjusted horizontally for comfort.

Sounds impressive, but it won't come cheap. Logitech's official product page prices the G27 Racing Wheel at Ā£329.99. Furthermore, Logitech's wheel supports only PC, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 platforms. Sorry Xbox folks, but you'll have to get your Forza Motorsport 3 kicks with the Fanatec alternative.
