Nintendo and Activision has answered Wii gamers hopes for a solution to the limited amount of storage on Wii by confirming that users will be able to download content for Guitar Hero 5 onto high-capacity SD cards.

Guitar Hero 5 will be the first game on Wii that allows gamers to download content onto an SDHC card with a capacity of up to 32GB and then stream it directly from the card. For Guitar Hero fans this means quicker loading times and faster downloads. Activision say that a 32GB card should be able to hold approximately 800 songs and that gamers will be able to transfer tracks from previous Guitar Hero games onto the card, for a small (undisclosed)l price to cover re-licensing fees.

Vicarious Visions has also confirmed a new Rock Archive SD file management feature will debut in Guitar Hero 5 to make transferring and arranging files simple.

Guitar Hero 5 is due for release on September 1, 2009.
