The beta phase for Microsoft's free Xbox Live interactive quiz, in which players can win prizes, has been taken offline, presumably following the news that hackers have exploited the software.

The 1 vs. 100 beta phase kicked off in July and thousand of gamers have been competing to take home a variety of prizes including 40" HDTVs and the top prize of 10,000 Microsoft points. Console Monster first broke the news that a number of gamers with the word "Defensive" in their gamertags had manage to exploit the system.

A YouTube video allegedly shows a video of the cheat. The guy in video below was apparently sent a voice message which said:

"It's cause me and my mates are hackers. We like, you know, how to fix it. So erm if you ever see anyone with Defensive before there name then it is my or one of my mates. We've been The One and in the Mob, four times as The One."
We've updated our Xbox 360 following the launch of the summer dashboard update and currently you can't access the beta schedule anymore or the extended play sessions.

We're waiting to hear back from Microsoft as to when normal service will resume.

Update: Extended play has resumed.
