December 24, 2009 has been confirmed as the release date for the much anticipated and long awaited action role-playing game, Diablo III, the third installment in Blizzard's popular franchise.

Kaputik.com has also revealed the PC specs and the news that a multiplayer beta trial will begin on September 11, 2009

Blizzard say that Diablo III will be a true continuation of the series. Players will create a hero from one of five distinct classes, such as barbarian or witch doctor, each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. As these heroes adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic storyline and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, they’ll grow in experience and ability and acquire items of incredible power.

The game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced the armies of the Burning Hells -- and were fortunate enough to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again.

Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, claim Blizzard. With the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level.

Soo.. 10 months from now? They teased what looked like pretty close to finished code last summer, why the delay?

Also, 8GB of install space is what I'd call inefficient.

Do you know anything about modern computer games? :p

They teased such a small proportion of the game that if that was all that was contained in the final game it wouldn't be worth buying. I suppose you also think that 640k RAM is more than enough for everything

But Hexus, is this news, or an unsubstantiated rumour?
i heard its a rumour

You heard a rumour that it's a rumour? :p
YES!!! D3 is coming….. to pc!. Now the consoles have lost the argument that an rpg is better on console as diable series is the best :). 10months is nothing, i was expecting over a year as games to take ages to program and knowing blizzard they dont want a buggy game as it could ruin the series. Looks like the game kept all the great bits about d2 and just got new graphics and more gear, i like very much :). a few of my mates wouldnt play D2 simply because of the graphics but they really want d3 as they loved the look of the graphic and gameplay.

Now to find something to occupy me till then….
