If you're wondering what is exactly Jasper is, and what it has to do with the Xbox 360, we'd suggest referring to our prior in-depth analysis.
For those in the know, you'll be aware that the search for a Jasper Xbox 360 console has been underway for many months. Jasper, successor to Falcon, brings with it the promise of a GPU shrink down to 65nm, and hope of a cooler, quieter console that isn't susceptible to the infamous RROD.
Up until now, that search has proven fruitless. Today, we've got our first real glimpse of Jasper consoles in the wild. Over at the Xbox Scene forums, two community members have posted images of new Xbox 360 consoles that come bundled with revised 150W power supplies. That's 25W less than the power supply bundled with Falcon consoles, and almost certain proof that these are indeed the first two Jasper units to be identified.

In fear of voiding their warranty, neither user is willing to crack open their consoles in order to provide a look at the 65nm GPU we presume is sitting inside. Nevertheless, the images provide manufacturing dates that suggest any console produced after October 23rd 2008 will contain the less power-hungry innards. The console pictured carries a lot number of 0843X, from manufacturing team FDOU.

If you're on the lookout for a Jasper console, look for the all-important manufacturing date. If that isn't enough, ask a retailer to open the box so you can check for the 150W power supply before you make your purchase. All we need now is someone to pry open a box so we can all take a peek inside and see what else has changed.
With my own Xbox 360 currently heading to Microsoft's German repair centre, I'm pinning my hopes on a Jasper replacement.

Agent's right, the different revisions come with different PSU connectors. Chances are, if MS did send you a Jasper replacement for a broken console, they'd probably send it with a new PSU, too.
I'm hoping I'll get that kinda treatment, but I'm pretty certain I'll get the same console back with a replacement mobo inside it. If so, I think I'll be taking it to Blockbuster to trade in for a Jasper. :)
haha exactly what im thinking, im fed up with the console roaring away when im watching a dvd, my friend has a newer one and the noise levels are very acceptable not to mention i was surprised that the air was kinda cool that was coming out the back of it, also i dont want to be playing it with baited breath waiting for it to red ring again :surprised:Quote
I believe its ok to use, its just like having a 500w PSU on the PC when it only uses 200W. Its probably better to have a higher rated PSU depending if its just as efficient at the set wattage because if the console goes over that(plug in usb devices etc) then it could crash.
As long as the voltage is the same, and the current is the same or higher then it will be fine.
The power output of a power supply is just the maximum rated value, it doesn't matter if the device it is powering pulls less power, that just ends up as spare capacity.Quote
If I get a new 360 does anyone want to swap a region free copy of Fable II for a UK one?Quote
EDIT: Scratch what I said....I totally mis-undetstood my friend. He is GOING to get a Jasper because his original has died. My bad for being a complete idiot.Quote
After trying to play Fable II on my new 360 I hope they repair my old one rather than sending me a new one. My copy of Fable II was bought through an Amazon seller and is NTSC-J, region free. It played find on the old 360 but keeps freezing up on the new one and is unplayable :(
Copied it to your HDD and played it from there?
It's a lot faster and the menu's interact more fluidly in game now :)Quote
