A UK price war is about to begin, spurred on by retail chain, Sainsburys, who have this afternoon confirmed to HEXUS.gaming that there will be substantial price cuts on both its Xbox 360 and Wii consoles.

Speaking to the its customer service helpline, Sainsbury's confirmed that as from Friday 03rd October, running up until October 12th, the Xbox 360 Arcade version will be available for just £99.97(previously £129.97), with the 60GB model offered at just £139.97 (reduced from £169.97).

The company has no current deals on the Elite model.

Futhermore, the Wii will be reduced for the same period from £179.97 to £149.97!

You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere else. We guess you'll have to hurry up whilst stocks last.

Thanks to MCV for the tip-off.

Lets hope these kind of deals become common amonst supermarkets and shops. I won't a Xbox 360 but am unwilling to pay much more than £130 for one with a harddrive and HDMI out put
might upgrade my 360 tomorrow then seeing as i get 10% off and its old, noisyand close to death

that means a brand new 360 for a cool 90quid. not bad at all :-)

not that our store ever has much stock of 360 consoles.
Microsoft are going to make a killing in sales if the price cuts spread to everywhere.
But I am sorely getting tempted to pick up a wii at that price.
Which one would be ther better buy? I'm quite tempted, PC gaming is being killed, so consoles seem like a good purchase.

If the 360 Premium 60gb becomes 130 pounds, then ill be very tempted to get one!
Definately going to be looking at another 360 if the current price falls to around the £130 mark for the 60gb model :D Lets hope more retailers fall in line with the competition :)
