Electronic Arts has today confirmed the cancellation of its tactical first-person shooter videogame, Tiberium, and in the process has booted out a number of staff working on the game.

"EA has suspended work on Tiberium effective immediately," said EA's Mariam Sughayer in an official statement, who cites 'low quality as being the underlying issue.

The internal memo, which has been revealed in full on Kotaku, states that

"The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label. A lower quality game is not in the best interest of the consumers and would not succeed in this market."

Tiberium was in development at EA's Los Angeles studio and was due for release next year on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

May I be the first to say… good. I still remember Renegade, and it ruined the C&C franchise for a while for me.
EA deemed it to be of too low quality

It must have been really, really bad
