A huge haul of PS3 games, including 16,000 copies of Ubisoft's recently released Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, have been stolen from right under the noses of the police.

The games, reported to be worth approximately £600,000, were initially swiped from Northampton where thieves loaded seven pallets of PS3 titles into a stolen lorry.

Although no arrests were made at the time, police recovered the stolen loot after spotting the dodgy numberplate on the parked lorry. The vehicle was then taken to the police depot for further investigation and fingerprint evidence.

A few hours later though, the daring crooks broke into the police security compound and stole the lorry back. The now-empty lorry was then recovered in Bradford with no sign of the thieves.

“We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, including eBay transactions where a number of the games have been potentially identified as being advertised for sale. Arrests have already been made in respect of this,” said a police spokesperson.

Fans of the Brother In Arms needn't worry as they'll still be plenty of copies of the title available (especially at car boot sales).

epic fail by the police.
not surprised. in other words, the most unlikeliest place you can steal something will always be the easiest place to steal. i bet the place they originally stole it from, proved a much tougher task then stealing from the police
Some hilarious comments on the Sun page, fairly indicative of the level of intellect of their readers.
