The publishing rights to the next iteration in the ninja-infested Tenchu franchise have been nabbed by Ubisoft and will be developed exclusively for Wii with its launch expected in early 2009.

The original developer of the series, Acquire, is back in the driving seat and plans to offer a new look and feel to the popular series.

Tenchu 4 will use the Wii Remote to fight, dash, jump and kill. Players will continue the saga of Rikimaru and Ayame, elite ninjas who must use their lethal skills to keep the peace in feudal Japan. Playing as both stealthy Rikimaru and aggressive and acrobatic Ayame, players will fight their way through more than 10 missions and 50 side quests.

We can expect katanas, throwing stars, daggers, smoke bombs and a few more surprises.
